Emergenza-Bandinfo

Gorodskaya Kultura (Urban Culture) was formed in 1996 in Moscow Youth Institute by two students of this University - Mikhail Kotelnikov and Pavel Yazdovskiy. During the first years of its existence the band was a typical Moscow student-band, playing gigs in campuses and on various festivals dedicated to student-arts. First changes came with the new bass-player Sergey "Dun" Karmalito, who joined the band in Autumn of 1999. He brought in a certain level of professionalism, and, eventually, a new drummer, Vladimir "Strika" Kokorin, in Summer of 2000. Together they raised the band's groove to a new, previously undreamed-of level. By 2001 it was decided that the band needs a second guitarist (the first one was lead-singer Misha), and by Summer 2001 the band was joined by violent Andrei "Abron" Abroskin, fan of Jimi Hendrix, who played in other projects with Dun and Strika before. Since then Gorodskaya Kultura is constantly working on developing its own unique style by crossing the most interesting melodical trends of modern Rock music, at the same time keeping the musical structure quite simple. The band's debut album, released in May 2008, got very positive reviews from listeners and critics alike, and can be called a success on the local underground scene. Encouraged, Gorodskaya Kultura set to record it's second album, which should be ready for release by May 2009.
